2017 Short Story Competition Prize Giving at Creeds

By October 4, 2017 No Comments

Huge congratulations to the prize winners of the 2017 Creeds Short Story Competition in association with the Bridport Literary Festival and Wessex FM. Competition was fierce and choosing the winners was no easy task. Our grateful thanks go to Bridport Literary Festival Director Tanya Bruce-Lockhart who rose to the challenge as head judge.

After much deliberation the worthy winners were:

Children’s Category – Riley Pattullo with ‘The Magic Fidget Spinner’

Young Adults’ Category – Ben Reed with ‘The Photo Album’

Adults’ Category – Gill Barr with ‘Skylight’

On Tuesday 3rd October Riley, Ben and Gill along with their proud families attended the prize giving ceremony hosted by Creeds. Tanya Bruce-Lockhart presented each of the winners with a certificate and a beautiful printed copy of their book. Nicola Weller from Wessex FM was also on hand to interview the winners and congratulate them on their fantastic story writing skills. The winners also enjoyed a tour of the print factory and had the chance to ask questions and see how their books were created.

As part of this year’s Bridport Literary Festival, Gill Barr will be reading her winning story Skylight at a special event at 10.00am on Friday 10th November at the Beach and Barnicott. Tickets are free and are available from the Bridport Tourist Information Centre. Book early to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.
